THE TERROIR

BADIA AL MONTE Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is produced with grapes grown on the beautiful hills of coastal Abruzzo, facing the cliffs and beaches of the Adriatic Sea in the province of Chieti (Central Italy).

Abruzzo is a fascinating and rural region, surrounded by the Apennines Mountains, especially the Gran Sasso d’Italia on the West and by the Adriatic Sea on the East.

This is fabulous land of fertile valleys and unbeatable climate and the result is a fascinating microcosms, which yields wines packed with character.

Despite its southerly location, Abruzzo has cold winters with abundant rainfall. Summers are hot with a good fluctuation of temperature between day and night. During the final stages of ripening, these conditions help to develop the spicy cherry fruit flavor, typical of Montepulciano.

THE VARIETY

Montepuciano is one of the most popular red grapes of Italy, widely planted in the Central and Southern Regions of the Peninsula, thanks to its characteristics of rich fruitiness and easy-drinking characteristics.

The rich, warm and mouth-filling flavor and the very approachable style make Montepulciano a popular favorite among the great red wines of Italy and it reaches a great success in various Countries, including the United States.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Perfect with a large array of tasty food, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is excellently pairing with classic dishes of the Southern Italian cuisine, such as Veal Parmigiana, Spaghetti with Meatballs, Lasagne, Eggplant rollatine, but it is also showing very well with burgers, ribs, lamb and pork sausage.
