Starborough 2020 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
The Marlborough district of New Zealand’s South Island has set the world standard for crisp Sauvignon Blanc wines. Flanked by a ridge of mountains to the west, Marlborough sits on the eastern coast of the island, where minimal rainfall makes it one of the sunniest areas in New Zealand. Starborough Sauvignon Blanc reflects the long, cool growing season of this renowned region, with its rich layers of flavor and bright, refreshing style.

ABOUT THE WINE
A stellar 2020 vintage has brought incredibly generous, balanced and bright Starborough Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Opening with aromas of citrus and peach, the smooth, crisp palate offers appealing notes of fresh-cut grapefruit and lime layered with hints of bright tropical passionfruit, guava and kiwi. Subtle touches of lemongrass and sea spray feature on the delightfully palate-refreshing finish.
VITICULTURE NOTES
With a warm, even growing season and ideal conditions throughout, vintage 2020 will be remembered for its excellent quality and classic Marlborough characteristics. Early spring showers arrived right on time to give vines plenty of water resources for the months ahead. By budbreak, clear blue skies marked the growing season, vines basking in the warm sunlight that gave fruit wonderful, layered flavors. Nestled close to the coast, the region is chilled at by the cool seaside air, which preserves Marlborough’s signature crisp structure and vibrant fruit notes. Vintage 2020 offers incredibly distinctive wines with bright, expressive character and structure. A high-quality vintage to remember.
WINEMAKING NOTES
Sauvignon Blanc grapes were de-stemmed and lightly membrane pressed, not crushed, to avoid extracting bitter notes from the skins and seeds. The juice was fermented in upright stainless-steel tanks at low temperatures for 21 days to preserve the bright fruit characteristics, then left on light lees during maturation. The wine was then filtered prior to bottling.
