90 Plus Cellars Langhe Rosso
Blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo and Barbera from Italy’s Piedmont aren’t typical, but they sure are delicious.
Both Nebbiolo and Barbera are widely planted in sub-Alpine hills of the Langhe on soils consisting mostly of limestone, clay and sand. The Bordeaux grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, is new to the region, and despite some controversy, takes advantage of the long ripening season to produce elegantly scented and well-structured wines. Each variety is fermented separately in a blend of oak, concrete and stainless steel and then aged for one year in a mix of new and one-year-old French oak barrels before blending and bottling
Tasting Notes
Inky purple in color with hearty aromas of black currants and cherries amidst a cloud of smoke, cedar, tobacco and mint. Full-bodied and forthcoming with an onslaught of ripe, brambly fruit that firmly caresses your palate before melting into a velvety finish. Enjoy with braised lamb shanks, roasted root vegetables and hard aged cheeses.
