Lot 166 Sauvignon Blanc California
This crisp, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc comes from the sunswept hills and valleys of northern California. Golden berries ripen in the warmth of the day, and are cooled just enough by Pacific breezes to maintain their lip-smacking juiciness.
While this Sauvignon Blanc does have some grapefruit notes, they are much more subtle than those from New Zealand. The climate in California is warmer and the sugars ripen quicker than the flavors so the farmers tend to leave them on the vine for longer so that there are (unattractive) green flavors. As a result, this means the grapes lose their acidity and are frankly fatter and “jollier” than the more crisp and intensely fragrant versions from New Zealand. With lower acidity, this wine’s peachy, tropical flavors really pop!
Pop open and discover generous tropical and pink grapefruit aromas spilling from your glass. Once sipped you’ll be dazzled by its cool freshness and alluring touch. Pair this wine with grilled shrimp, chicken with lemon and herbs, or fresh cheeses and a baguette.
